Since their formation in 2016, in between a handful of East Coast Australian tours and the release of a string of singles, Kimono Drag Queens were eagerly working towards their debut record Songs of Worship which finally arrived on Copper Feast in late 2020.

Prior to SoW, the music they’d shared represented their hive mind approach to songwriting - there are elements of modern psych (think King Gizzard, Here Lies Man), 60s rock, Tuareg music (Tinariwen, Bombino), and ambient folk with these influences even more evident when the Song of Worship released to much fanfare across the psych scene around the world.

Songs of Worship:

"They’ve generated a style that blends elements of psych rock, 60’s US West Coast, cinematic soundscapes and noirish lyricism that just totally defies comparison!" - Velvet Thunder

"Sydney septet Kimono Drag Queens conjure up sounds that are both familiar yet fresh and comforting yet complex within their stunning debut." - Rock and Roll Fables

"It’s taken the seven-piece two years to record but I believe it was worth the wait as Songs Of Worship is full of surprising turns, styles, and rhythms that are both memorable and impressive." - The Fire Note

“Songs of Worship is a beautiful meditation in a seemingly barren place that is actually full of life.  - Flying Fiddlesticks
